Islamic Center in Lukavac officially opens after 15 years

The Islamic Center in Lukavac has officially opened following a 15-year construction period. The project, one of the largest undertaken by the Medžlis of the Islamic Community of Puračić in recent decades, serves as a multi-purpose facility for worship, education, culture, and community gathering.

During the ceremony, Reisul-ulema Husein-ef. Kavazović addressed the congregation, emphasizing that the mosque is a spiritual foundation for identity and a place for community cohesion. He spoke on the importance of coexistence within Bosnia and Herzegovina and cautioned against divisive rhetoric that harms social dignity.

Šemsudin Smajlović, President of the Executive Board of the Medžlis of the Islamic Community of Puračić, noted that the project overcame various financial and logistical challenges since its inception in 2011. He credited the successful completion to the support of donors, the local administration, and the State of Qatar.
