Serbia election timing signaled by SNS leaders

Serbian political leaders have signaled that elections may be held in less than 100 days. Miloš Vučević, president of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), stated that he believes elections are imminent, though the final decision rests with President Aleksandar Vučić.

President Vučić noted that Vučević, as leader of the majority party in parliament and government, would be better informed regarding the specific timing. Vučić called on all political actors to prepare for the polls and respect the will of the voters.

In separate developments, President Vučić addressed international criticism regarding his proposal to divert the Ibar River to facilitate a small hydroelectric plant. He stated that the project had been requested by the Novi Pazar municipality and that an expert group would be formed next week to address the matter. He also commented on the condition of Nenad Rašković, a citizen who was reportedly assaulted by Kosovo police, noting that Rašković suffered broken ribs.
