Islamic groups acquire former church and seminary for schools and mosques in Texas and New York
The Salahuddin Future Academy purchased the former Korean World Mission Baptist Church in Richardson, Texas, for less than the $3.8 million originally agreed. The Islamic organization plans to convert the 40,000‑square‑foot campus into a multi‑purpose complex that will include a mosque (Masjid Dar Al‑Tawhid), a K‑12 academy, a Dawah seminary, and a community food pantry.
Separately, the United American Muslim Association bought a former Catholic seminary on Long Island, New York, for $5.2 million. The 70,000‑square‑foot, 14.6‑acre site, once run by the Montfort Missionaries, is slated to become a boarding school for Muslim boys. Local residents have raised objections as the project moves through the planning process.
