Islamic teachings on moral character and ethics

Islamic teachings outline specific moral characteristics and behaviors that are viewed unfavorably in faith. Among the most significant are traits of arrogance, pride, and conceit. Arrogance (kibr) is defined as a person feeling superior to others, while pride (fakhr) involves boasting about external assets like wealth or social status, and conceit (khuyala’) involves an imagined sense of superiority.

In contrast, the character and ethics of Prophet Muhammad are described as a practical reflection of the Quran. Scholarly views, including those from Imam Al-Ghazali, suggest that the Prophet's manners and responses to life serve as a living embodiment of Quranic values. Key principles emphasized include being forgiving, commanding what is good, turning away from the ignorant, acting with justice, and practicing patience.
