Islamic University forms probe committee after student wing clashes

Tensions erupted at Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia following an incident where a member of the Chhatra Dal student wing allegedly slapped a leader of the Bangladesh Chhatra Shibir student wing. The altercation, which occurred at the Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Hall, escalated into clashes between the two groups involving sticks and local weapons.

The confrontation resulted in injuries to two individuals, including members of Jamaat-e-Islami. In response to the violence, university authorities have formed a three-member investigation committee, led by Professor Mohammad Selim, tasked with submitting a report within 72 hours.

Vice-Chancellor AKM Matinur Rahman has ordered law enforcement to prevent outsiders from entering the campus and has implemented measures requiring students to show identification to enter halls. Additional police and RAB members were deployed to the university gates to maintain order.
