Isle of Wight advances sustainable food initiatives and local agriculture

The Isle of Wight Food Partnership has joined the national Sustainable Food Places network. Established by the Isle of Wight Council, the partnership aims to create healthier, fairer, and more sustainable food systems by addressing food insecurity, supporting local producers, and improving access to nutritious food.

Joining this national network provides the island with a platform to share ideas and collaborate with other communities on environmental and social challenges. The partnership involves a broad range of stakeholders, including local businesses, farming representatives, community groups, and public sector partners.

In the local agricultural sector, Isle of Wight Tomatoes is leveraging the island’s unique climate and fertile Arreton Valley soil to drive commercial growth. The B Corp brand reported a 20% revenue increase from 2024 to 2025 and is implementing circular business practices regarding waste, soil, and packaging. The company currently produces approximately 30% organic crops and distributes products to over 400 independent retailers and major grocers like Marks & Spencer and Ocado.
