Isle of Wight community service and licensing updates

Two pharmacies on the Isle of Wight are extending their core contracted hours to improve local access to healthcare. Starting Monday, October 19, 2026, Boots in Sandown will offer extended hours on Mondays and Tuesdays, while Day Lewis in Newport will provide coverage on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Both locations will remain open until 8:30 pm. This initiative follows a Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment and aims to support services like NHS Pharmacy First, which allows pharmacists to treat seven common conditions without a GP appointment.

Separately, a licensing subcommittee at County Hall has approved an amended application for Adgestone Campsite Touring Park. The site is now permitted to sell alcohol daily from 08:00 to 22:00 and host live music, recorded music, films, and plays. Following discussions with the environmental health department, the applicant agreed to certain conditions, including a noise management plan and the possibility of extending activity hours until 23:00 on no more than six occasions per year.
