Isle of Wight Green Impact sustainability programme secured
The Green Impact business sustainability programme will continue on the Isle of Wight following financial backing from ten local sponsors, including headline sponsor Veolia.
Operating on the island since 2018, the free programme provides organisations, community groups, and colleges with a toolkit of over 190 practical actions designed to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and enhance environmental performance. These efforts support the Isle of Wight’s status as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
During the 2025/26 cycle, 59 businesses registered and completed a total of 2,042 sustainability actions. Participants earn points toward Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum awards, with submissions audited by students from the Isle of Wight College.
The Green Impact Toolkit is set to relaunch on 28 October 2026, featuring updates that integrate the Isle of Wight’s Local Nature Recovery Strategy. A networking and relaunch event is scheduled for 13 November 2026 in Cowes.
