Ismael Blanco begins coaching tenure at Técnico Universitario

Ismael Blanco has officially begun his tenure as the new head coach of Técnico Universitario in Ecuador's LigaPro. The former Argentine striker, known for his successful playing career at Barcelona Sporting Club, makes his professional debut as a manager following the departure of Colombian strategist Bernardo Redín.

Blanco has assembled a technical staff including assistant Nelson Benítez, physical trainer Rodrigo Cariaga, and goalkeeper coach Héctor Lautaro Chiriboga. His primary objective is to improve the team's collective solidity and secure their position in Serie A to avoid relegation.

During his presentation, Blanco emphasized the need to change the squad's mentality and find a tactical system that suits the players. He noted that his goal is to restore player confidence and stated, “We have a good group to compete, we are football people who know what needs to be done to change the situation.” His initial contract runs until the end of the regular season, with renewal options based on performance.
