Ismael Bonfim released from UFC roster after weight miss and loss

The UFC has released lightweight fighter Ismael Bonfim from its roster following a series of poor performances and weight-cutting issues. Bonfim’s departure follows a first-round knockout loss to Francisco Prado at UFC Vegas 122.

During the event, Bonfim weighed in 7.5 pounds over the lightweight limit. This marked his third official weight miss in the promotion. The loss to Prado was also Bonfim’s fourth consecutive stoppage defeat in the UFC.

Bonfim, who originally earned his contract through Dana White’s Contender Series, leaves the promotion with a promotional record of 2-5. In a social media statement, Bonfim expressed determination to continue his career, stating, “my story doesn’t end here.”
