Ismael Burgueño leads social and health initiatives in Tijuana
Tijuana Mayor Ismael Burgueño Ruiz has spearheaded several initiatives aimed at social reconstruction and public health. As part of the ‘Proyecto Tijuana’—a collaborative strategy between different levels of government—the mayor led the ‘Ruta de la Paz’ awards ceremony and the unveiling of a new mural in the Centro district. This project focuses on youth participation, cultural promotion, and the recovery of community spaces to strengthen the city's social fabric.
In addition to urban and social efforts, Burgueño supported specialized training for healthcare professionals during the ‘Seminario de Neurociencias Aplicadas al Tratamiento de Salud Mental y Adicciones.’ Organized by the Interdisciplinary Council for Mental Health and Addictions (CISAMA), the seminar aims to improve the prevention and treatment of mental health issues and addictions. The mayor emphasized that the Municipal Institute of Mental Health and Addictions (IMSAMA) will continue to prioritize comprehensive public policies and social reintegration programs to ensure dignified care for citizens.
