Ismael Corell claims no emergency alerts were issued before Turís DANA flood

Ismael Corell, the former mayor of Turís in Valencia, testified before a judge that neither he nor the local police received any official warning from the Centre of Coordination of Emergencies of the Generalitat during the severe DANA event on 29 October 2024. The municipality recorded more than 700 litres of rain per square metre, causing streets to be inundated with about a metre of water, loss of telephone service and electricity, and the suspension of school classes based only on television reports.

Corell noted that Turís has a general emergency plan but no specific flood‑risk plan, and that no calls, emails or the Es‑Alert sent at 20:11 were communicated to the town. His statements add to investigations into the emergency response chain after what officials describe as the worst natural disaster in recent Spanish history.
