Turkey preserves Ottoman heritage through new facsimile and digital manuscript access

Turkey's Ministry of Culture and Tourism has announced two major developments regarding the preservation of Ottoman-era manuscripts.

First, a facsimile edition of the 16-volume tafsir (exegesis) 'Ruhu'l-Beyan fi Tefsiri'l-Kur'an' by the Ottoman scholar İsmail Hakkı Bursevi has been released. This publication, prepared by the Presidency of Turkish Manuscripts Institution and the Bursa Governor's Office to mark the 300th anniversary of Bursevi's death, reproduces the work exactly as written in the author's own handwriting. Minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy presented this facsimile to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who contributed a special introductory text to the volume.

Second, a collection of 525 rare manuscripts donated by Professor İsmail Erünsal to the Süleymaniye Manuscript Library has been made available for digital access. The collection includes unique items such as a Divan written by the poet Şeyh Galib in his youth. The Turkish Manuscripts Institution completed the maintenance, repair, and digitization of these works within approximately two months, allowing researchers worldwide to examine these historical treasures online.
