İsmet Kotak commemorated on 15th anniversary of death
A ceremony was held at the grave of İsmet Kotak in Lefkoşa to mark the 15th anniversary of his death. Kotak was a member of the Turkish Resistance Organization (TMT), a former minister, Member of Parliament, and a journalist-author.
Speakers at the event included former Speaker of the Assembly Zorlu Töre, People's Party leader Kudret Özersay, and TAM Party leader Serdar Denktaş. Celal Bayar, President of the Cyprus TMT Mujahids Association, noted Kotak’s contributions to cooperative investments and his early advocacy for projects such as bringing water from Turkey. He also highlighted Kotak’s work in rehabilitating migrants and fighters following the 1974 Peace Operation.
Kotak’s son, Serhat Kotak, described his father as a visionary and hardworking role model, reading an excerpt from Kotak’s unfinished book, ‘Şu Bizim Kıbrıs’. Zorlu Töre characterized Kotak as a serious, resilient, and dedicated leader who pursued his goals until completion.
