Ismett Palermo hosts national meeting on cardiac transplantation

Medical experts from across Italy gathered at the Ismett in Palermo for a National Consensus Meeting organized by the Italian Society of Cardiac Surgery (SICCH). The primary objective of the meeting is to share expertise and experiences from various Italian transplant centers to standardize treatment protocols and clinical practices.

The meeting brought together specialists in both adult and pediatric transplantation. Michele Pilato, president of the SICCH, noted that Italy is among the European countries with the best long-term survival rates following heart transplants. Participants, including Emanuela Angeli, director of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery at the IRCCS in Bologna, aimed to address transversal issues affecting both adult and pediatric patients to create a unified clinical reference for the nation.
