Isni n Urgh Amazigh Film Festival celebrates 20 years in Agadir
The 17th edition of the Isni n Urgh International Amazigh Film Festival is currently being held in Agadir, marking the 20th anniversary of its establishment. On its fourth day, the festival is hosting a diverse program of eleven films at Cinema Sahara, featuring productions from Morocco, France, Argentina, Finland, and the United States.
The screenings are divided into several categories, including the International Competition, the Amazigh Competition, the National Prize for Amazigh Culture, and non-competitive showcases. The selected films explore themes of memory, identity, migration, and resilience. Notable works include documentaries on the heritage of Moroccan hammams in Fez, the role of Amazigh women as guardians of identity, and the impact of social challenges such as poverty and education.
Other featured films address the experiences of the Moroccan diaspora in Germany, the traditions of Patagonia, and the post-earthquake recovery of women's cooperatives in the Al Haouz region. The program aims to use cinema as a bridge for cultural dialogue and a means to preserve vanishing traditions and historical memories.
