ISO 56001 certification could accelerate access to innovation tax incentives

A study by the innovation management center Piera indicates that the adoption of ISO 56001, an international standard for innovation management, could be driven by the prospect of faster project analysis for tax incentives.

According to the survey, 84.7% of managers would consider or implement the certification if it guaranteed priority in the analysis of projects submitted to the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI). Additionally, 84.6% of respondents noted that increased legal certainty and greater agility in project analysis are primary justifications for adopting the standard.

The research also identifies internal organizational challenges regarding the use of the Lei do Bem. Beyond bureaucracy, the most significant obstacles identified by managers are a lack of engagement from innovation project teams and the manner in which tax benefits are reflected in an organization's financial results.
