ISO 9001:2026 standard released, triggering global transition

The official release of the ISO 9001:2026 standard on September 16, 2026, marks the first major revision of the quality management standard since 2015. This sixth edition replaces ISO 9001:2015 and integrates the Amd 1:2024 amendment, placing greater emphasis on leadership, quality culture, ethical behavior, and the distinction between risks and opportunities.

To assist with the transition, Plain Standards has launched a new set of documentation templates specifically designed for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). These templates, written in simplified English, aim to streamline compliance processes without the immediate need for external consultants. The company also offers an unaccredited certification as a cost-effective alternative to traditional accredited bodies.

Industry experts, including GrandEdu Media, suggest that organizations must now make strategic decisions regarding the transition. Key recommendations include appointing a dedicated transition team to manage the change and determining which existing processes can remain unchanged to avoid unnecessary restructuring. The new standard is expected to impact over one million certified organizations worldwide.
