Isola del Giglio launches Italy’s first hybrid solar and wave energy pier

Isola del Giglio has launched Italy’s first hybrid renewable energy pier, combining solar and wave power. Developed by Seares in partnership with the Municipality of Isola del Giglio, the infrastructure utilizes a dual-source system with an installed capacity of 5.2 kW.

The project features integrated walkable photovoltaic panels developed by New Time. Unlike traditional solar arrays, these modules are built directly into the pier's walking surface, designed to withstand marine conditions such as salt, humidity, and temperature fluctuations while providing a non-slip surface for pedestrians.
