Isolda Dantas reports death and sexual violence threats

Isolda Dantas, a state deputy and reelection candidate in Rio Grande do Norte, has reported receiving death threats and threats of sexual violence. The lawmaker stated that an email sent last week specifically mentioned her name and the city of Mossoró, describing graphic acts of violence as punishment for her political stances.

Dantas characterized the incident as part of a broader pattern of gender-based political violence intended to intimidate women in leadership roles. She noted that such tactics, including moral harassment and personal attacks, are used to discourage women from occupying political spaces. Investigative and oversight bodies have been notified to investigate the case.
