Isomorphic Labs Secures $2.1 B Series B to Scale AI‑Driven Drug Discovery
AI‑first drug discovery company Isomorphic Labs raised $2.1 billion in a Series B round led by Thrive Capital. Existing investors Alphabet and GV (Google Ventures) participated alongside new backers MGX, Temasek, CapitalG and the UK Sovereign AI Fund. The startup was founded in 2021 by Demis Hassabis, former DeepMind CEO, and operates a unified AI drug design engine called IsoDDE that combines protein‑structure prediction, molecular modelling and therapeutic design.
The fresh capital will be used to expand the IsoDDE platform, broaden therapeutic research programs, move more candidates toward clinical stages and increase hiring across AI, engineering, drug design and clinical research worldwide. The funding reflects growing investor interest in applying generative AI and large‑scale biological models to accelerate pharmaceutical development.
A related commentary noted that the same venture firm, Thrive Capital, also led a $5 billion Series H for defense‑tech firm Anduril, underscoring a broader surge of multi‑billion‑dollar investments into AI‑focused companies.
