Isomorphic Labs secures $2.1 bn to accelerate AI-driven drug discovery

London‑based Isomorphic Labs, a spin‑out of Google DeepMind, announced a $2.1 billion Series B financing round. The round was led by Thrive Capital and included participation from Alphabet, Google Ventures, CapitalG, MGX, Temasek and the UK Sovereign AI Fund.

The capital will fund expansion of the company’s AI‑based drug design engine, IsoDDE, built on AlphaFold protein‑structure technology. Isomorphic Labs plans to scale its operations across offices in London, Lausanne and Cambridge, hire additional AI, engineering and clinical talent, and move AI‑generated drug candidates into clinical testing, now targeting the end of 2026 for the first trials.

Founded in 2021 after separating from DeepMind, the firm already collaborates with major pharmaceutical companies such as Eli Lilly, Novartis and Johnson & Johnson, underscoring the growing role of artificial intelligence in accelerating therapeutic discovery.
