Isotita Trade Union proposes 12-hour shifts for Cyprus Police

The Isotita Trade Union has submitted a formal proposal to the Chief of Police in Cyprus regarding working conditions and shift structures. The union is advocating for the maintenance of a 12-hour shift system and the granting of 12 annual days off, with financial compensation provided for an additional 7.5 days.

This proposal aims to maintain a total compensation of 234 additional annual working hours. The union stated that preserving the 12-hour system avoids the need for a radical restructuring of shifts and ensures operational continuity, while also supporting the health and safety of officers. The union noted that similar 12-hour systems are utilized in other European countries, such as France and Ireland.

Additionally, the union announced the withdrawal of its legal challenge regarding the reduction of annual days off. The decision to withdraw the lawsuit was attributed to unforeseen changes in data affecting the legal process, though the union clarified that this does not signify acceptance of the previous decision to reduce days off from 19.5 to approximately 4.7.
