Isparta Deputy raises concerns over rising agricultural insurance premiums
Isparta Deputy Hikmet Yalım Halıcı has submitted a written parliamentary inquiry to the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry regarding rising agricultural insurance premiums. Halıcı highlighted that apple producers, particularly in the Eğirdir region, face significant risks due to climate change, including spring frosts, droughts, and hail.
The inquiry addresses concerns that high TARSİM premium increases and surcharges for 2026 are forcing some producers to opt out of insurance altogether. Halıcı emphasized that for agricultural insurance to be effective, premiums must align with producers' purchasing power, and compensation mechanisms must be strong enough to allow farmers to resume production following disasters.
