Israel accuses United Nations of systemic bias and inaccurate reporting

The United Nations is facing accusations of systemic bias against Israel from legal and diplomatic representatives. A report by the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) claims that from 2006 to the present, the UN General Assembly adopted 187 resolutions condemning Israel, whereas Iran and North Korea were each condemned only 11 times. The ACLJ further noted that the Human Rights Council passed 116 resolutions against Israel, while countries such as China and Cuba received no condemnations.

In a separate briefing to the UN Security Council, Israel’s UN ambassador Danny Danon challenged the narrative regarding rising settler violence in Judea and Samaria. Danon argued that the focus on Jewish residents ignores significant Palestinian terrorist activity, noting that in May, there were 348 Palestinian terrorist attacks, including pipe bombs, arson, and stone-throwing. He stated that Israel is actively investigating extremist violence, with 354 investigations and 20 indictments filed in the first quarter of the year, and accused the UN of using the term ‘settler violence’ as a provocation that distracts from terrorism and Iranian-funded instability.
