Israel Adesanya defends Michael Page after UFC contract non-renewal
Israel Adesanya has criticized the UFC’s decision not to renew Michael ‘Venom’ Page’s contract following the expiration of his six-fight deal. Despite Page maintaining a 5-1 record during his tenure, UFC CEO Dana White indicated the promotion would not re-sign him, citing low output.
Speaking on the Precision Podcast, Adesanya argued that the promotion misjudged Page’s value. He suggested that while the UFC may have been looking for the high-impact knockout style Page displayed in Bellator, Page prioritized winning over spectacle. Adesanya noted that Page is delivering results and getting paid well, stating, “I felt like they got it wrong on that one.”
Page enters free agency with interest expected from multiple combat sports promotions. His next professional move is anticipated as early as 2027.
