Israel Aerospace Industries and SIG SAUER test armed Fire Storm 250 drone

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and the American manufacturer SIG SAUER have successfully completed testing of the Fire Storm 250, a military quadcopter drone equipped with an M250 light machine gun.

During trials conducted in Israel, the drone operated over a simulated battlefield, using an onboard camera to identify targets and performing shots from various altitudes and distances. The system allows an operator to receive real-time sensor data and maintain control over the decision to open fire. The drone is capable of vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) and can remain airborne for up to three hours.

The Fire Storm 250 features a stabilized remote-controlled weapon station weighing approximately 24 kilograms and can carry up to 200 rounds of ammunition. It is designed for reconnaissance, border surveillance, and providing direct support to ground troops by integrating observation and fire control systems into a unified targeting solution.
