Israel and Colombia agree to reciprocal visa waivers

Israel and Colombia have reached an agreement to reciprocally eliminate visa requirements for their citizens, a measure set to take effect on September 1. The decision follows diplomatic discussions between Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and Colombian Foreign Minister Omar Bula Escobar.

The agreement aims to facilitate mobility and strengthen bilateral ties, including tourism, commerce, academia, and cultural exchange. This move represents an effort to normalize relations following a period of significant tension during the administration of former Colombian President Gustavo Petro, who had previously criticized Israel's actions in the Middle East and ordered a rupture in diplomatic relations.

Under the new terms, Colombian citizens will be able to enter Israel, and Israeli citizens will be able to enter Colombia, without prior visa processing, provided they meet the specific migratory requirements established by each nation's authorities.
