In the United States, Republican candidates face political pressure regarding unconditional support for Israel and the management of conflicts with Iran. Economic factors, such as rising fuel prices linked to tensions in the Red Sea and the Strait of Hormuz, are impacting voter sentiment. While 73% of Republicans previously approved of Donald Trump’s management of the Iran conflict, that approval has dropped to 60%, with even lower support among voters under 45. Some Republican candidates, including Senate hopeful Mike Rogers, have publicly called for an immediate end to the conflict with Iran to address these domestic concerns.
