Israel announces new security doctrine for southern Lebanon
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has unveiled a new security doctrine regarding southern Lebanon, stating that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will not withdraw from its established security zone until Hezbollah is completely disarmed. The security zone currently encompasses approximately 700 square kilometers, extending from the Mediterranean coast to areas near Mount Hermon.
Katz reported that the military has destroyed more than 60 villages and approximately 23,000 structures identified as Hezbollah positions or threats. He noted that the scale of destruction follows a strategy similar to the one implemented in Gaza. The displacement in the region is significant, with Katz stating that 200,000 Shiite residents have been evacuated from the area up to the Yellow Line.
In a recent television interview, Katz warned that if Hezbollah participates in an attack alongside Iran, Israel will seize additional territory in the areas of Nabatieh and the Litani River, which would then become part of a permanent Israeli security zone.
