Israel completes large-scale eastern border barrier
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has inspected the completion of a massive defensive barrier along the country’s eastern border. The project spans approximately 400 kilometers, extending from the Yarmouk River area—where the borders of Israel, Jordan, and Syria meet—down to the southern city of Eilat. Much of the structure is situated along the border with Jordan.
Designed to bolster national security, the barrier aims to prevent illegal crossings, smuggling, and terrorist attacks. Netanyahu stated during his inspection that the project serves as a demonstration of strength, warning, “Do not test us.” The facility is expected to include advanced capabilities to defend against drone threats.
Accompanying the Prime Minister during the inspection were Defense Minister Israel Katz and several high-ranking military officials. Katz emphasized that while the wall is a critical component of Israel’s defense planning, the nation maintains an active and offensive policy against immediate and distant threats, including Iran.
