Israel Confirms Participation in Eurovision 2027 in Bulgaria

Israel’s public broadcaster KAN announced that the country will take part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2027, which will be staged in Bulgaria. The broadcaster will again partner with commercial channel Keshet 12, using the talent show “HaKokhav HaBa” (The Rising Star) to select the Israeli artist. An open call for songs will be received, and a joint committee of KAN and Keshet professionals will shortlist about 40 entries before choosing the final song for the contest winner.

The most recent Israeli entry, Noam Bettan, placed second in 2026 with the song “Michelle.” The announcement has reignited debate over Israel’s participation amid the Gaza conflict. Several European nations – Iceland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Slovenia and Spain – have announced boycotts of the contest, but the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) confirmed that Israel remains on the participant list.

The selection format has been used for Israel’s entries in 2015‑2020 and from 2024 onward, delivering strong results such as a 5th‑place finish in 2024 and a second‑place finish in 2025. The upcoming season is expected to air in late October‑November 2026, with the chosen artist and song representing Israel at Eurovision 2027 in Bulgaria.
