Israel Confirms Eurovision 2027 Participation in Bulgaria

Israel's national broadcaster confirmed that the country will take part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2027, which will be hosted in Bulgaria. The Israeli entry will be chosen this autumn through the reality TV competition "HaKokhav HaBa" (Next Star) on Keshet 12, the same method used for the 2026 contest where Israel finished second.

In recent years Israel has placed second in 2025, fifth in 2024, and consistently ranks in the top five. The nation has won the contest four times (1978, 1979, 1998, 2018) and has been a regular participant since 1973. The European Broadcasting Union has faced pressure to exclude Israel over the Gaza conflict, leading to a boycott by Spain, the Netherlands, Ireland, Slovenia and Iceland in 2026. The selection process will allow composers to use artificial‑intelligence tools for demo recordings while keeping submissions anonymous.

The decision follows a series of strong viewership numbers for Israel’s Eurovision entries and continues the collaboration between the Israel Broadcasting Corporation (KAN) and commercial channel Keshet 12.
