Israel-Cyprus relations see rising Israeli population and trade

The Israeli Embassy in the Republic of Cyprus has reported that approximately 15,000 to 20,000 Israelis now consider the Greek Cypriot administration their home. This increase is attributed to geographic proximity and strengthening bilateral relations.

Economic ties between the two regions are expanding, with trade volume exceeding 600 million euros in 2025. Israeli investments are growing in sectors such as energy, real estate, technology, and tourism. Additionally, Israeli companies are increasingly using Cyprus as an international operational hub rather than just a sales market. Potential collaborations in agricultural and water technologies are also being explored, including the possible establishment of a pilot demonstration farm.

Data from the Cyprus Statistical Service indicates that Israel is expected to be the second-largest tourism market for the island in 2025, accounting for 13% of total tourist arrivals.

Separately, research from Tel Aviv University highlights a significant migration trend from Israel. Approximately 49,000 Israelis left the country for more than a year during 2023 and 2024, with projections suggesting another 50,000 may be classified as migrants in 2025 if they remain abroad for at least 12 months.
