Israel deepens strategic partnership with India amid US strain

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel is forging new alliances beyond the United States, highlighting India as a key partner. He noted growing ties on military strategy, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, and described strong public support from Indian social‑media users.

During a state visit in February, Israeli and Indian leaders upgraded their relationship to a strategic partnership and signed 16 memoranda of understanding covering AI, quantum technology, critical minerals and defence cooperation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech in Jerusalem after the October 7 attacks reaffirmed India’s support, and India subsequently supplied weapons and artillery to Israel while U.S. arms deliveries were delayed.

Analysts describe the Israel‑India alignment as an “insurance policy” for Israel in a shifting global order, underscoring the deepening bilateral ties amid perceived strains in U.S.–Israel relations.
