Israel Defense Forces undergo operational transformation following October 7
An analysis of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) highlights a dual reality regarding their performance since the October 7, 2023, attacks. While the initial event is characterized as one of the most significant strategic, intelligence, and systemic failures in the history of Israel, the military has subsequently demonstrated significant tactical and operational adaptability.
Following the initial systemic shock, the IDF transitioned into a complex, multidimensional offensive campaign. This shift is described as a case of operational adaptation, where the military organization learned and modified its methods to rebuild effectiveness while actively engaged in combat.
A key component of this transformation has been the implementation of information- and network-centric warfare. By integrating intelligence from various sensors, command-and-control systems, UAVs, drones, and maneuvering forces, the IDF has worked to shorten the cycle between detecting a target and deploying firepower.
