Israel denies AI civilian targeting claims and faces West Bank displacement report

The Israeli military has rejected allegations made in the documentary film ‘Nasa’ regarding the use of AI-supported systems to target civilians in the Gaza Strip. The film, which received a special jury prize at the Venice Film Festival, features testimonies from anonymous soldiers and intelligence officers claiming that an AI system analyzes mobile data to identify targets, allegedly leading to strikes in civilian areas. The Israeli military categorically denied these claims, stating that human operators remain responsible for target selection and that operations comply with international law to target terrorist groups like Hamas.

Separately, the Israeli human rights organization B’Tselem released a 249-page report titled ‘The Elimination Project.’ The report alleges that Israel is pursuing a systematic political strategy in the West Bank to displace Palestinian populations. B’Tselem claims that approximately 33,000 Palestinians have been displaced from refugee camps and 75 communities have been dissolved. B’Tselem director Yuli Novak called on the international community to intervene, asserting that the current government under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has institutionalized these practices.
