Israel Deploys 26 Battalions in West Bank Over Security Fears

Following a wave of incidents in Judea and Samaria at the end of last week, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) placed 26 battalions across the West Bank. The deployment involves the IDF, Israel Police and Shin Bet, which are concentrating resources to calm the area ahead of the upcoming Tishrei holidays. Senior security officials warned political leaders that "if we do not succeed in the coming days, the situation will get out of control," and criticised the lack of coordination with settlers, saying it diverts troops from their primary mission of counter‑terrorism. The move reflects heightened alert levels as authorities brace for possible attacks.

The reinforcement is intended to deter further escalation and restore stability in the contested region.
