Israel discusses Gaza population transfer amid continued airstrikes
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has stated that the government is prepared to organize the transfer of Gaza's population ‘via sea and via air,’ though he noted that such a move would require approval from the United States. Katz suggested that there is no viable solution for Gaza without this migration, claiming that 80% of residents wish to leave the territory. He noted that the concept, previously discussed by Donald Trump, remains a subject of discussion despite pressure from Arab nations.
Simultaneously, military activity continues in the Gaza Strip despite a ceasefire agreement established in October 2025. Recent Israeli airstrikes in Gaza City and the Tel al-Hawa neighborhood killed five Palestinians. The Israeli military stated these strikes targeted Hamas militants, including an officer in the Sabra neighborhood.
While the October 2025 truce included provisions for Israeli withdrawal and the disarmament of Hamas, implementation remains stalled. Hamas accuses Israel of violating the agreement, while Israel maintains it will not withdraw until Hamas surrenders its weapons. According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, the death toll since the start of the conflict has exceeded 73,000.
