Netanyahu orders IDF and Mossad to pursue overthrow of Iranian regime

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has issued directives to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Mossad, and other security agencies to pursue the overthrow of the Iranian government. Speaking at a campaign event in Dimona, Netanyahu stated that regime change is the only way to eliminate the existential and nuclear threat posed by Tehran.

Netanyahu accused the Iranian leadership of continuing to develop weapons of mass destruction despite previous military actions. He specifically noted that current Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is following the path of his predecessor, Ali Khamenei, who was killed in an Israeli strike on February 28. Defense Minister Israel Katz warned that the Iranian regime is currently in a state of weakness that could lead it to take extreme measures against Israel.

While Netanyahu emphasized that Israel does not require a ‘green light’ from the United States to act, he noted that he would keep President Donald Trump informed of planned operations. Some reports suggested a large-scale military operation was planned for October 10 but was reportedly canceled due to opposition from the Trump administration, a claim Netanyahu has dismissed as inaccurate and biased.
