Israel expands technology focus toward AI and space intelligence

Israel is evolving its technology sector to address the strategic demands of modern warfare and geopolitical competition. Experts suggest that while technical talent and cybersecurity have historically driven the nation’s economy, the next era of leadership requires significant investments in computing infrastructure, energy, and academic research to support artificial intelligence and deep tech.

Boaz Levy, president of Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), emphasizes that future battlefields will rely heavily on space, autonomous systems, robotics, and drone swarms. To meet these challenges, IAI is developing a program to increase the number of satellites and improve image resolution. This initiative, which has received government approval, aims to use space sensors and AI algorithms to provide real-time intelligence. The program is funded through a combination of IAI research and development resources and Ministry of Defense funds.
