Israel faces broad setbacks after 1,000 days of conflict
Israeli television channels Channel 13, Channel 12 and Kan reported that Israel has not achieved any decisive victory in the 1,000 days of fighting that began after the Oct. 7, 2023 Hamas attack. The war has expanded across Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, the West Bank and against Iran, with Iran emerging from the conflict in a stronger diplomatic and economic position and maintaining its nuclear program.
The outlets said the prolonged war has strained Israel’s human, economic and psychological resources, weakened its regional and international standing, and eroded traditional U.S. support. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been criticised for leading what was described as a strategic disaster.
The Israeli daily Israel Hayom marked the 1,000‑day milestone, recalling 1,200 Israeli deaths and multiple campaigns against Hamas, Hezbollah and Iran. It noted ongoing security concerns over planned humanitarian shelters for Gaza civilians and reported public protests calling for Netanyahu’s resignation and demanding the disarmament of Hamas.
