Israel faces internal criticism over growing international isolation

Internal Israeli criticism is mounting regarding the government's perceived inability to manage growing international isolation and criticism of its policies. Media expert Lilaach Siegan notes significant shifts in attitudes within the United States, particularly in New York, where declining patronage of Israeli restaurants is linked to the war in Gaza. She observes that the term ‘Zionism’ is increasingly used negatively in American political and cultural discourse. Siegan also highlighted rising hate crime statistics in New York and trends reported by the FBI.

The criticism extends to the handling of settler violence in the West Bank. Siegan pointed to statements by U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee, who described settler attacks in Qusra as ‘terrorism,’ despite his standing among Evangelical supporters.
