Israel faces rising fuel and consumer goods prices

Israel is facing a significant rise in the cost of living due to simultaneous increases in fuel and consumer goods prices. Fuel prices at service stations are expected to rise by 25 to 40 agorot per liter starting Wednesday night. This increase, which could add up to 20 shekels to a full tank of gas, is driven by international tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and rising crude oil prices following failed diplomatic negotiations between the United States and Iran.

In addition to fuel, consumers will face higher prices for various goods. Effective October 1, the Israel Standards Institute will increase fees for controlling imported products. These costs, which range from an average of 5% to as much as 12% for certain categories, are expected to be passed on to consumers. Affected items include personal hygiene products, cosmetics, household goods, food, and children's toys. Only products covered by international harmonization agreements will be exempt from these increases.
