Israel Flores-Ortiz to be released following high school assault convictions

Israel Flores-Ortiz, a 19-year-old undocumented immigrant from El Salvador, is scheduled for release from jail on September 3, 2026. Flores-Ortiz was previously convicted on nine counts of sexually assaulting high school girls in the hallways of Fairfax High School.

Flores-Ortiz entered the United States in 2024 after being released into the country by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during the Biden Administration. Despite his convictions, he was sentenced to 180 days in jail. Questions remain regarding whether Fairfax County authorities will honor the ICE detainer for Flores-Ortiz upon his release.
