Israel Defense Minister Katz describes ‘Gaza model’ in southern Lebanon

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz has stated that Israel is implementing the ‘Gaza model’ in southern Lebanon. During a visit to the region, Katz reported that more than 60 villages have been destroyed and approximately 23,000 houses have been demolished within a 700-square-kilometer security zone.

Katz noted that the area, extending to the Yellow Line, has been wiped out and currently has no residents, with roughly 200,000 people forced to flee. He indicated that the military does not intend to withdraw from currently controlled zones, suggesting a potential permanent occupation unless Hezbollah is completely disarmed.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health reports that since March 2, hostilities have resulted in at least 4,389 deaths and 12,424 injuries. Additionally, the United Nations estimates that approximately 330,000 people remain displaced in the country.
