Israel kills Hamas commander Muhammad Suleiman Byouk in Gaza strike

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the death of Muhammad Suleiman Byouk, a commander in Hamas’s military wing, following an airstrike in the Khan Younis area of southern Gaza. According to Israeli military statements, Byouk was involved in the October 7, 2023, attacks and had been working to rehabilitate Hamas's capabilities while planting explosives to target Israeli troops.

Sources close to the Peace Council, an institution led by U.S. President Donald Trump aimed at Gaza progress, suggest that Israel’s policy of selective assassinations may not lead to the total elimination of Hamas.
