Israel launches AI-driven propaganda campaign on Gaza conflict

Israel has begun a multi‑million‑dollar operation to shape how artificial‑intelligence systems answer questions about the Gaza war. The campaign, overseen by former Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale, funds hundreds of websites and articles that portray Palestinian journalists as linked to armed groups and question the killing of five‑year‑old Hind Rajab. Contracts worth roughly $46‑50 million aim to “poison” large language models such as ChatGPT, Claude and other chatbots, so that users receive information framed to favor Israeli narratives.

At the same time, commentary in the region questions recent diplomatic statements about Hamas disarmament. An expatriate writer notes that President Trump’s claim of a breakthrough lacks backing from key negotiators Qatar and Egypt, and points out that the Israeli Defence Forces still control about 70 percent of Gaza, far above the cease‑fire phases that would reduce their presence. Humanitarian aid flows have also fallen from pre‑war levels, with trucks delivering aid dropping from 700‑730 to just over 500 daily, while hundreds of thousands of displaced residents remain in tents.
