Israel Defense Forces face critical personnel and equipment shortages

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are facing a critical shortage of personnel and military equipment following nearly three years of continuous conflict. Reports from Maariv and Channel 12 indicate that the military is preparing to suspend soldier leaves to address manpower deficits.

Equipment shortages are also severe, with hundreds of tanks and armored personnel carriers damaged or worn out by prolonged operations. Due to a procurement budget crisis, the IDF has canceled a planned purchase of 12 Apache attack helicopters from Boeing.

Military officials have warned that without an emergency budget injection, repair work on damaged armored vehicles could cease, and certain ammunition production lines may be negatively impacted. The situation follows unsuccessful efforts by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to secure increased military spending from opposition leader Yair Lapid.
