Israel Minister Ben Gvir announces execution facilities for Palestinians

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir has announced the construction of facilities intended for the execution of Palestinian prisoners by hanging. The project follows a law passed by the Knesset in March that establishes the death penalty for certain Palestinians convicted of crimes classified as “terrorist” offenses. The new infrastructure includes “observation booths” designed to allow the families of victims to witness the executions.

This development marks the first time Israel has prepared such infrastructure for these purposes since the 1962 execution of Adolf Eichmann. Additionally, Ben Gvir recently faced significant backlash for posting an AI-generated video depicting Palestinian prisoners being processed through an industrial-style facility. The video, which showed prisoners transitioning from well-fed to emaciated and distressed states, was removed from social media following public outcry and comparisons to Nazi concentration camps.
